Las mariposas han sido una constante en la obra de Hirst desde 1989 y se convirtieron en un icono artístico a partir de los 90. En 2008 Hirst realizó una serie de 150 obras hechas con alas de mariposa sobre lienzos pintados. Cada una fue titulada como un salmo del Antiguo Testamento. Las piezas de la serie se presentan en diversas formas y tamaños, así como también pueden ser interpretadas como naturaleza muerta, exploraciones de belleza, religión y muerte. La serie completa nunca ha sido expuesta.

Butterflies have been a constant element in Hirst's work since 1989 and became an artistic icon during the 90's. In 2008, Hirst made a series consisting of 150 works made with butterflies' wings on painted canvases. Each one of them was titled like an Old Testament's psalm. The pieces of the series present different shapes and sizes, and can be interpreted as still life, explorations of beauty, religion and death.
